DESCRIPTION

1. Red Style Components

Assertiveness measures an individual's propensity to interact with others in a direct manner for immediate results. It reveals a direct approach to accelerate results, but also a willingness to make tough decisions and stand firm. With a strong assertive component, the person aims to be in control in all circumstances, even if it means imposing the goal and the way to achieve it.

Self-determination measures an individual's propensity to be "results-oriented", to act directly with a sense of urgency. Self-determination combines a spirit of initiative and self-empowerment with a clear need to act to solve problems, meet challenges and seize opportunities. This is reflected in a strong preference for a high pace of work and for achieving goals immediately, with a tendency to be impatient with those who do not keep up.

Independence reflects an individual's strong inclination for immediate results and a taste for challenge. It reflects a desire to be direct, to break away from established rules and procedures in order to resolve a situation and achieve a goal as quickly as possible, even if it means bypassing procedures that are deemed restrictive.

2. Components of the Yellow Style

Enthusiasm reflects an individual's preference for extraversion, action, and sustained activity through interaction with others, reflecting a confident and engaging nature that is likely to be interested in new ideas.

Assertiveness reflects an individual's confidence in dealing with various situations. It also indicates a preference for outgoing behaviour, involving a taste for quick action or improvisation rather than observation and adherence to established procedures, which can sometimes lead to overconfidence.

Sociability and Persuasiveness measures the need to build and maintain interpersonal relationships, resulting in a 'human' assertiveness of social interaction, debate and discussed solutions.

3. Components of the Green Style

Perseverance and Reconciliation measures the propensity to work at a slower, steady pace, taking time to carefully consider the consequences of each decision before acting. This component is characterised by patience, temperance and determination to see things through to the end, regardless of the effort involved, as well as the tendency to consider alternative solutions and to seek to maintain a harmonious and peaceful working atmosphere in interaction with others.

Reflection reflects a tendency to be thoughtful and reflective, with a steady pace, and a need to delay in order to carefully work out a solution aimed at steady progress towards the goal.

Personal Ethics refers to the preference to act and decide according to principles of justice, equity and solidarity rather than according to rational, precise and objective criteria.  Emphasis is placed on the fairness of a decision, on group solidarity and team spirit.

4. Components of the Blue Style

Adherence to Standards reveals the propensity to be precise, to proceed in an analytical and structured way, and to follow established policy and practice. Conforming to conventional standards and practices is intended to avoid the risk of error.

Compliance and Prudence reflects a careful and conscientious approach based on the search for evidence, factual data, and planned action using proven tactics.

Accuracy & Objectivity reflects the need to be accurate and objective in decisions, with a preference for rational standards and criteria for decision making, even if this may conflict with the aspirations of the team, and especially if there are potential risks.

1. Communicating or cooperating with the different DISC styles

1.1 Blue Style

Wants to know HOW and thinks that STRUCTURE is the most important

  • Approach them with tact and kindness
  • Give them written information
  • Give them the opportunity to think, investigate and check before making decisions
  • Give them sufficient time to find the best or 'correct' answer, within the limits available

Make the most of your WORK

1.2 Style Red

Wants to know WHEN and thinks the OUTCOME is most important

  • Show them how to win, the new opportunities
  • Provide concise data
  • Allow them to act freely within the limits of their authority - Vary the tasks
  • Let them take the lead, where appropriate, but give them the parameters, key information

1.3 Green Style

Wants to know WHY and thinks that RELATIONSHIP is most important

  • Detail your reasoning
  • Show your interest
  • Give them personal reassurance
  • Give them the opportunity to be of service or support to others
  • Include them in a cooperative group

Value WHO HE IS

1.4 Yellow Style

He wants to know WHO and thinks that COMMUNICATION is the most important thing

  • Act optimistically and create a positive environment
  • Avoid details, focus on the "big picture
  • Vary the tasks; avoid asking them to do repetitive work over the long term
  • Do things together
  • Support their ideas and do not undermine their dreams; show them your positive side - Acknowledge their achievements, their progress and give them sincere appreciation
